Donald W. Owens, president and chief financial consultant of
Financial Security Group in Hamilton, Ohio, has been a major sponsor of
multiple local Ohio charities as well as national foundations. One
charity to which Donald W. Owens has contributed is the Court Appointed
Special Advocates, or CASA, for Children.
CASA for Children is
an organization supported by the National Court Appointed Special
Advocate Association that provides court-appointed volunteer advocacy to
abused or neglected children. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges
to represent children who have been removed from their family homes in
the interest of their safety and well being. However, because more than
600,000 children in the United States are placed in foster care, CASA
volunteers are only assigned to the most difficult cases.
Each
year, a National CASA/GAL Conference is held for the benefit of CASA for
Children. The 2016 National CASA/GAL Conference will be held at the
Gaylord Resort in National Harbor, Maryland from June 4-7. The online
conference registration fee is $550, with an early-bird discount rate of
$460 for those who sign up within the first weeks of online
registration.
The conference honors certain individuals and
programs that the National CASA Association believes to provide
outstanding service to abused and neglected children with Awards of
Excellence. The organization’s Awards of Excellence include the G. F.
Bettineski Child Advocate of the Year, National CASA Association Board
Member of the Year, and Kappa Alpha Theta CASA Program Director of the
Year.
